This position will primarily involve overseeing the company’s safety programs
Job Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for all safety related matters including inquiries from employees and government agencies.
- Drive compliance with the requirements of the company Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
- Ensure safety compliance with all federal and state safety regulations.
- Lead and train ERT committee.
- Conduct quarterly/semi-annual meeting with safety committee.
- Provide training to new/existing employees on evacuation procedure and emergency response plan.
- Plan and coordinate for the company’s evacuation drill.
- Train and refresh required ongoing safety training.
- Provide training to management/supervisory personnel on safety roles and responsibilities.
- Maintain training records and keep them up to date in our database.
- Maintain safety equipment effectiveness and coordinate for safety equipment service.
- Collect data and provide required reports to comply with regulations.
- Prepare and file Hazmat Material Business Plan according to the requirement from the city.
- Conduct and follow up on accident/incident investigations including near miss/close calls and ensure appropriate corrective actions are identified, completed and documented.
- Work with department managers to ensure all employees are aware of the dangers and hazards of the job and are well trained on how to work safely.
- Analyze data and worker’s comp cases to identify workplace safety, and environmental health and safety risk trends.
- Make recommendation to mitigate hazards and develop prevention strategies/trainings to upper management.
- Provide safety recommendation to senior management to improve existing guidelines and establish new guidelines according to regulations and company’s requirements.
- Provide safety advice and support to department managers and employees; explaining procedures and policies in a timely effective manner.
- Assist in the development process of human resource and safety procedures and policies.
- Assist with recruiting, event planning when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Human Resources or related field (or equivalent).
- 1-2 years of hands on experience in safety for a small-size manufacturing company.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Employee relations knowhow and practical experience.
- Must be computer savvy and proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PPT) and ERP.
- Ability to do research, evaluation and analysis of new techniques, methods, and procedures.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Must be well organized and able to provide accurate and on-time results.
- Must have a can-do attitude as well as the ability to take direction.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-up.
- CPR/1st Aid Certified is a plus.
- Forklift Certified is a plus.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
