Job Responsibilities
The SMT Process Engineer is responsible for developing a capable, repeatable, and stable SMT process. As such the successful candidate must have a background and experience in SMT manufacturing processes. This position is a hands-on out on the manufacturing floor to support and troubleshoot the SMT process, gather & analyze data, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Job Functions • Be the Subject matter expert in our SMT manufacturing processes. • Provide programming and technical support for the SMT process equipment used in PCBA manufacturing: solder paste printing, solder paste inspection, pick and place, and thermal profile monitoring system. • Understanding of SPI and AOI. • Provide “on the floor” technical support, as issues arise on the SMT line. • Recommends and implements SMT process improvements that will enhance manufacturing, quality and reduce cost of parts and assemblies. • Routinely perform moderately-complex to complex processes experiments and design of experiments. • Improves manufacturing processes using statistical process control techniques. • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency for the SMT lines Education
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, equivalent work experience, and certifications will be considered Related Experience 2+ years of hands-on SMT experience Requires experience and knowledge with surface mount technologies. Must have working knowledge of all SMT assembly and inspection processes Job Complexity Works on jobs that are complex in nature. Supervision Received Works under limited supervision. Physical Effort Moderate physical effort required. Mental Effort Requires reading, writing and frequent analysis, judgment and decision-making effort. Equipment Requires the use of Solder Paste Printer, Solder Paste Inspection, SMT Pick and Place Machine, Reflow Ovens, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Work Environment Requires frequent interaction with each department supervisors.
