Job Description

The Transportation Planner/ Logistics Analyst, Supply Chain, will be primarily responsible for maintaining the transactional aspect of freight, as well as building and sustaining business partner relationships with third-party freight vendors. This role encompasses the tracking and reporting of freight at all points in the supply chain and distribution network and requires an individual possessing a curious disposition and thought leadership. ****  is seeking a resource with experience in freight logistics who exhibits the character traits of organization, natural curiosity, and the ability to operate cross-functionally. This critical role will work closely with the materials planner, warehouse supervisor, head of logistics, finance department and external freight vendors across the globe.

Responsible for evaluating, recommending, and implementing cost-effective Transportation options and integrated Logistics systems and processes across **** . Uses analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, and enhance Logistics processes.  Collaborates with internal and external partners to guide, provide expertise, and recommend solutions that highlight cost and other holistic impacts and trade-offs to the *** Supply Chain. Provides analytical expertise and guidance for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Daily Exception Management of all import activities to ensure on-time delivery
  • Drives changes that will lead to improvements to logistics processes, packaging, sourcing, landed cost reductions and improved company profitability
  • Identifies and evaluates opportunities for cost reduction throughout the entire supply chain
  • Works cross-functionally with the merchandise, inventory management, sourcing, and logistics teams to plan merchandise flow and channel management
  • Works with supply chain design software to model and optimize freight movement for vendors and products
  • Provides strategic and tactical recommendations to logistics management for line review process
  • Designs and recommends future logistics network growth
  • Develops, measures, and communicates logistics forecasts
  • Deliver against growth and profitability targets.
  • Analyze the freight market to maximize profit and negotiating power for each transaction.
  • Analyze freight carriers and lanes based on but not limited to the following; capacity and utilization, insurance, price, safety, and service.
  • Negotiate rates and terms with carrier partners.
  • Manage entire process starting with the shipment from suppliers from the outside carrier thru the pick-up and delivery for the plant.

Manage the interface between the suppliers and transportation personnel

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
  • 3 - 5 years combined experience in supply chain, distribution operations, inventory management, sourcing, business analytics and/or logistics
  • Working knowledge of supply chain systems, warehouse management systems, replenishment methodology, and industrial engineering methods/techniques
  • Basic professional level of knowledge for the company, business, and industry practices
  • Proficient in MS Office with strong focus In Excel, Access, and PowerPoint or related software.
