The Technical Program Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading multiple complex product releases.  The role requires skills in managing cross-functional, multi-location teams.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creating and maintaining release or program plans, assessing & mitigating risks, facilitating teams, and providing timely and accurate status reports and other communications to management and team members.

Job Responsibilities

  • Communicate – to executives & individual contributors – release status, release readiness, metrics, phase review outcomes, actions, risks, status versus milestones
  • Lead / Facilitate - focused topic and x-functional status meetings.  Ensure team member accountability to actions.  Ensure appropriate change control.  Conduct post-mortems.
  • Own Process - use and promote the established Product Lifecycle Process, & constantly consider its improvement.  Institute change when appropriate. 
  • Plan / Organize – via creating and maintaining MS Project schedules -- Define Tasks, Utilize Work Breakdown Structures, set Predecessors/Successors, Set Baseline(s)
  • Manage Risk – via risk assessments & mitigation planning, escalating when appropriate
  • Coach – work with engineering, test, product management, support, and marketing to develop, release, and manage a complete product that respects our support and sales team and delivers exceptional customer value
  • Be the voice of the customer – deliver great products
  • Coordinate, support, and execute various release programs from initiation through completion
  • Release schedule and milestone definition, execution, tracking, and delivery
  • Work with the Development organizations to coordinate, plan, and monitor release programs
  • Identify and resolve release program level conflicts
  • Identify, collect, and monitor metrics to measure release program success
  • Continuously assess and improve key aspects of the release lifecycle to creatively address complex problems
  • Perform program analysis, manage risk, influence necessary course corrections, and communicate program status and activities across multiple levels of management.
  • Ensure release or program documentation is current, complete, and located in the proper repository.

Job Requirements

  • Program Management Professional (PgMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
  • Background in technical (software, hardware or mechanical development) program/project management including maintaining schedules & interfaces with x-functional team members throughout the project life cycle.
  • Release management / program management for complex SW programs with experience with common operating systems supporting multiple HW platforms. 
  • Storage SW experience
  • Good Interpersonal, Influence, Conflict Resolution, Communication (written and verbal), Listening & Leadership Skills
  • Ability to break down complex technical information
  • Good time management, organizational, problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle many projects at once
  • Strong commitment to quality, attention to detail, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • SW Tool Proficiency: MS SharePoint, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, any change control application
  • Experience developing process documentation
  • Experience managing projects in a matrixed environment
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in project and/or program management of increasing complexity in an engineering environment or equivalent experience in highly technical environment
  • Experience in managing OEM partners
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, or a related
